Consistency the Key to Staying Fit by Losing Fat and Gaining Muscle

Dr. Stuart Phillips, a professor from the Department of Kinesiology at Mcmaster University has come out with a new study just released yesterday, which according to its summary allows that "researchers have uncovered significant new evidence in the quest for the elusive goal of gaining muscle and losing fat, an oft debated problem for those trying to manage their weight, control their calories and balance their protein consumption." Using forty men in two groups of twenty, Phillips had both enter into a nutrition and exercise regimen that lasted for four weeks, on a diet that had one group consuming a high protein diet at 2.4 g/kg of bodyweight and forty percent less calories than required and the other a low protein one at 1.2 g/kg of bodyweight, while still working out six days a week, four doing total body weightlifting resistance workouts using compound exercises and the other two using high intensity circuit interval timed sprint training. The results should not surprise anyone that the consumption of the high protein diet was more effective than consumption of the low protein one in promoting increases in lean body mass and decreases in fat body mass when combined with a high volume of intense anaerobic resistance exercise, as the low protein group lost 7.7 pounds of fat versus 10 pounds by the high protein group, while the high protein group had gained about 2 pounds of muscle versus around 0 by the low protein group. There is no surprise that when people lose bodyweight, fat makes up between two thirds to three quarters of that loss from the body, whereas one  quarter to one third is made up of muscle, yet in this study we find the negligible muscle loss during such a deep energy deficit without energy dense foods do confirm what all of us already practiced.

Yes, a combination one two punch of a high protein nutrition and an anaerobic resistance exercise regimen both helps to preserve lean body mass, purge storage body fat, and promote both positive changes in body composition externally and serum cortisol internally. Better yet still, alternate intermittent fasting will further promote such positive body changes using simple fat oxidation via basic calorie restriction, with just less energy to burn and only more nutrients to build. The protocol as a proof of principle remains intact even when lengthened out to studies of 12 and 16 weeks, so whether short term or long, the original premise of the study and point to its protocol maintains that burning fat and building muscle can be done at the same time.

I flashback to almost one decade ago back in Hamilton, when my good friend, graduate of the Kinesiology program at Redeemer specializing in biomechanics and neuromuscular physiology, and then recent graduate from Mcmaster Chris Cubitt was just starting to get me back to my own athletic comeback. Cubitt, whose grand work in the areas of athletic functional training, corrective exercise, and nutritional consulting with Primetime performance systems had led to many a breakthrough inside and outside the gym for various clients, being the methodically versatile professional that he is actually kept me in line running step by step his strategic plan, execution, and delivery that mirrored the aforementioned study from the same university that graduated him academically and athletically on its football club. Likewise, the results from his successful program allowed one to gain better shape by reducing size while increasing strength yet still improving overall fitness and beyond into the elite levels again, so I say today kudos to Dr. Phillips for proving at the present what Chris was able to make real and true only ten years in the past to bring us back to the future of fitness in the 21st century.

First One Hundred Days of Trudeau to Fifteen Year Life in Ottawa

With the first one hundred days now down in the history books since his election, the Right Honourable Prime Minister of Canada and Leader of the Liberal Party Justin Pierre James Trudeau PC MP is currently serving one term in majority government being 184 of 338 seats and facing the possibility of two more for three full terms in majority governments and then likely one short term in a minority government in Parliament at the House of Commons in Ottawa, with no chance of parole or release from the noble obligation he must now serve out for his fellow Canadians. Such friendly sunny ways and days ahead remain the motto and mantra behind the red maple leaf motif that be Trudeau and his happy reigning honeymoon with Canucks across the country from sea to sea to sea, domestically protecting him from the foreign based flak critical of his post election promise to withdraw without withdrawing the 6 CF-18 fighter jets from the US led Islamic State bombing campaign of Iraq and Syria, which allowed President Barack Obama to kill the Keystone XL oil pipeline with little resistance from other American lawmakers and the recent disinvitation to anti-ISIS coalition meeting of 7 other allied nations being France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Australia, and the Netherlands in Paris when Canada had just hosted the last one under the Harper Tory administration July of last year in Quebec City. That compassionate and constructive voice of the honest diplomatic broker Justin was hoping to communicate with is slowly crackling into dissociativity and fugueness at its grander scale, leaving its global audience in awe of its sheer audacity in offensive arrogance and impudence that is the pure boldness, cockiness, and image first swagger of the Trudeau Grit government, while one from his local audience could ask where did the worry of being too secretive with the politics of fear and division as Trudeau accuses former Tory Prime Minister Stephen Harper when the new politics he promotes in these first days has actually made parliamentary bonds to his private lobbyist friendly backroom stronger and that democratic information access for the public citizen friendly media weaker.

Having removed the seemingly unpopular Harper after garnering publicity for his campaign by fomenting conflict against the government of the day, Justin has now made it clear that our spectre from the first one hundred days of Trudeau to fifteen year life in Ottawa will not bring radically different and real change now or then, rather he seems quite happy and content with the new Canada that Harper now has left him without any rhyme or reason to drastically revise or reverse the course of action from what has been to what could be.

Bring Canada back to a UN styled multilateralism, with a strong statement of support for the United Nations and surge of strengthen solidarity in  is what Justin truly believes in, tempered and tested by all his time living in the confines of 24 Sussex Drive as the son of Pierre the Philosopher King of Confederation waiting as the prince in exile yet to be crowned the Professor King of Confederation. But to become the king this way, one must taint and change the crown to make it different than had been or as Justin once said "a very powerful mechanism to get elected is to play on anger and pick those wedge issues" very different from sunny ways and similarly opposing the basic premise and principles behind the idea of a just society, which follows what he said right after winning the leadership race for the Liberals in with "My father's values and vision of this country obviously form everything I have as values and ideals. But this is not the ghost of my father running for the leadership of the Liberal party. This is me." So just as Trudeau and his 184 loyal Grits change the history and heritage of the old Dominion of Canada for the progressive better as they believe from the conservative worst, much diligent and sober consideration should be placed into the thought that anything broken down to build up better than before needs to be so and not just say tis because as Justin had once believe "Canada was built around a very simple premise, a promise that you can work hard and succeed and build a future for yourselves and your kids, and that future for your kids would be better than the one you had."

Trumpeting A Whiter Shade Of Palin

Quite like the endorsement Oprah Winfrey gave Barack Obama or when Dominic Leblanc lent Justin Trudeau while in absolutely the opposite way Rona Ambrose so quietly dismissed Kevin Oleary up north here in Canada and even yet down south Nikki Haley came hard after Donald Trump during the Republican State of the Union rebuttal of the last address of Obama, in this fashion we give you the next slide down the muddy slope. Former Repub Vee Pee nominee Sarah Palin countered the covert attack by her former Repub Prez nominee running mate John Mccain, who had just covertly attacked Trump archrival Ted Cruz on his citizenship and thus ability to legally become the next President, with an overt one by fully endorsing Trump over his archrival Cruz to leapfrog the Donald well ahead of Ted, which finally reunites Mccain and Palin after nearly one full decade of frosty relations between each other. You may be very well forgiven if all this sounds very much like some crazy LatinAm telenovela soap opera only found on Univision, or if you think what this is we are now witnessing is the fake news of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart and the Colbert Report of the fictitious Dr. Stephen T. Colbert fame, whose own raison d'être is "America Again: Re-Becoming the Greatness We Never Weren't" in 2012 which mirrors that of Trump's 2016 "Make America Great Again", yet now sadly I would just ask you to get up and try changing the channel, as even with fifty seven there is nothing on!

Have we got to a place where Trumpeting a whiter shade of Palin gets more press and media than someone freezing to death outside without shelter, warmth, food, or water, did we jump the shark of human dignity and decency where caring and sharing with one another is even an essential or basic priority of mankind, are we even trying for world peace anymore by at least working to do good and not assisting evil in scoring its goals everyday in everyway possibly imagined?

When the Onion, Saturday Night Live or Mad Tee Vee is not longer as absurd as the kind of fair and balanced Fox News styled reporting by Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, and Michael Savage, something is wrong. And when the National Enquirer seems fit to print more truth than the Wall Street Journal, New York and Los Angeles Times, New York and Washington Post, and USA Today combined, again something is wrong. Even still when the main stream media industrial complex and its establishment continue to deceive, through fixed polls and already decided winners of debates yet held, that something which is dreadfully wrong shall bring us a needed epiphany, it will one day be that we the people will no longer believe.

Whitby-Oshawa without Elliott-Flaherty stays Tory blue

Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario will be keeping the riding of Whitby-Oshawa as Lorne Coe polls ahead of the Ontario Liberal Party candidate Elizabeth Roy, the Ontario New Democratic Party candidate Niki Lundquist, and the Green Party candidate Stacey Leadbetter, with Libertarian Adam Mcewan, objectivist Freedom Douglas Thom, perennial Pauper John Turmel, None of the Above Greg Vezina and Noneof Zabove running as an Independent amongst the fringe, this byelection race is as slam dunk as they make them. Usually with byelections one expects the normal 59,110 valid total voters from the 2014 general election to drop by around half, more or less around 29,500 should be par, though the top issue of the byelection being the privatization Hydro One selloff and the resulting rise in electricity prices has had to date little or no effect on the street so one could be forgiven to think even less likely that number will show on the 11th of February. Coe and the Ontario Tories will gain 44% and win the seat, Larsen and the Grits will gain a second place showing with 33 percent of the vote, Lundquist and the Neodemos take up third with 15 in percentage, as Powell and the Greens will maintain with fourth at 5%, from the fringe Greg Vezina, the leader of None of the Above, and the Independent Above Znoneofthe should get a bounce from that registration fiasco a fifth and six place with 0.9% and 0.7% respectfully, then with a similar platform Mcewan and the Libertarians and Thom of Freedom should finish seventh and eighth place with 0.5% and 0.4% respectfully, then Cuthbert of the Peoples will finish ninth with 0.3%, and finally Turmel, the leader and founder of the Pauper, finishing tenth with 0.1%.

Thus Whitby-Oshawa without Elliott-Flaherty stays Tory blue, things will stay the same as staus quo allows, but the question is does the lack of a shakeup at Queens Park not lack a wakeup at how our own Ontario has gone from being a powerhouse to the poorhouse in less sixty and we Ontarians do not even bat an eye!

Green renewable energy production not tied to the free market solutions here in Ontario has created more problems, in terms of poor fiscal performance and lacklustre economic management under the current provincial government, leading us further into deficit as its debt grows and your job goes. Job creation will continue going down as the cost to power them here in the province continues going up, as industry and its various companies and corporations look for greener pastures, as dock doors close and warehouse windows shutter for those many businesses that go south from here to share their enterprise and commerce for better growth and brighter opportunities. When the Canadian hardworking middle class families of today earning $70,000. combined household income have to choose between food and warmth, two items most essential yet most affected by the Green energy versus economic reality, you can only imagine the kind of future we are headed towards without a better fiscal ship in order while in the middle of the ocean with the eye of the perfect storm heading right our way.

Iowa Cruzing but a New Hampshire bump yet for Trump and Sanders

Ted Cruz trusted to win in Iowa, that is or should be a given after his barnstorming effort to redouble his push to keep traditional family values alive in America as the main issue within the party itself as the culture war from within continues, using the classic Mid Western state as his stump to speak on said issue then speech and debate his way to victory as has been his strategy from the getgo. Problem for Ted in the long term is the quasi capitalist free enterprise fiscalism brand of Donald, Trump has Cruz' card being secular fiscal policy towards economic recovery, job opportunity, and trade liberalism and can break his poker face with the money to match, that sells in New Hampshire right through to the South starting in South Carolina. Unless Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, or a Paul or Carson or Kasich can actually catch onto either or both of these principles that still divide somewhat the party, between its Wall Street and the Beltway establishment and its Main Street American grasroots, Trump and Cruz will be vying neck and neck for the distance with no real competition behind them for the Republican nomination.

Democrats have it quite similarly yet different here in the heart of the Corn Belt, they do not have to wait as long for such clarity, which should not allude them much longer past Des Moines.

Martin Omalley coming in third where one only gains two tickets out of the Hawkeye State, question remains whether Iowans see themselves with those 1% praetorians backing Clinton versus the 99% proletariat behind Bernie, Hillary has the edge everywhere within the state machine but that does not seem to matter as the people want to have their say and their voice seems to be calling for quasi light communist democratic socialism brand of Sanders. As the Tea Party movement brought forth the populist platform push of Trump and Cruz, the Occupy Wall Street movement bubbled after Barrack Obama and now is before Bernie as Clinton feels the Bern, income and wealth inequality with a new way to distribute the dollar is the main issue within the party which polarizes both campaigns and the party itself as the class war from within continues. Another attack against by Bernie big banks and corrupt corporations adds burden for Clinton and the elite who keep her going, by the time they meet in Concord things should begin to settle but no matter what on both sides the damage will have already been done well beyond any minor campaign team mitigation.
